School Trip | Kyuhyun & Siwon

Kyuhyun relaxed as another voice than his own cut through the crowd, silencing everyone. He watched as Siwon lectured everyone on the dangers of the power plant, and how his job was just as important as everyone else’s. Kyuhyun had no doubt that it was.

He couldn’t imagine what it was like without power. His small room that contained only a candle was nothing compared to what would happen if all power in Panem went out - it would be absolute hell.

Kyuhyun shuffled along with the rest as they went on through the tour, their tourguides - Siwon  and another mand he didn’t recognize - telling them important facts along the way.

Kyuhyun, however, did stop in one show of the generators, just staring at the pumping waters and turning turbines. He wondered, just briefly, how it was to work here, to go through the everday drone of life providing life and power for other people, knowing that they would never know your face or you name never know the person that was supplying them with such. Never know another District at all, or any of their people.

He stood there staring through the glass window for so long that he didn’t notice that his class had already left him.

“So when that happens we inform the head of the power plant and he will make sure there is enough equipment for us to fix the weak spots on the wires,” Siwon finished explaining as he lead the small group of students through a spacious hall. His voice was a bit monotone, not in the least trying to make his career sound more exciting than it really was, because, honestly, it wasn’t exciting at all. Everyday he started his shift wondering what might be in need of fixing, what might cause an accident and how many could get hurt or possibly die. There was nothing exciting about carrying so much responsibility. 

Even when Siwon was used to the responsibility and was very precise and cautious about his work, he did manage to lose a student during his explanation. The tall male had turned to the group of whispering students, his eyebrows raising to his hairline when he found Kyuhyun’s face missing. With a small sigh he mentioned for a co-worker to come over.

“Keep them busy and don’t let them touch anything!” he hissed at the other who looked just as annoyed as Siwon, displeased to be in charge of kids while he had better things to do. Well, Siwon had better things to do too, but after the accident with Kyuhyun’s father, he couldn’t afford to possibly be responsible for any injury Kyuhyun might get while in his car. And so he searched for the brunette, backtracking his footstepts until he found the young one staring at the large generator, the one that had nearly exploded not too long ago.

“You shouldn’t dwell from the pack,” Siwon muttered, crossing his arms as he studied the other’s face.
